On October 23, 2023, the "Korea-US International Cooperation Seminar on UAM Certification and Flight Testing for Brake Development" was held.
This seminar was co-hosted by Dawin Friction and Korea Institute of Industrial Technlogy.
Dawin Friction has already signed a development contract with Supernal (Hyundai Motors America) UAM as a supplier of Hyundai Wia and is currently developing wheels and brakes.
We are also planning a flight test of brake pads for commercial aircraft.
In connection with this development project, FAA-DER, the representative of FAA-ODA, presented the current status of the U.S. FAA regarding UAM aircraft certification, and an instructor who is a current Delta Air Lines pilot and DER also conducted civil aircraft flight tests, especially emergency brake tests (RTO).
There were 50 to 60 seminar attendees from various fields, including systems companies such as KAI, landing gear companies such as Hyundai Wia and Hanwha, and test and certification organizations such as KIAST. They had time to ask the instructor, the FAA-DER, and the test pilot many of the question they had been curious about.
Last year, Dawin Friction invited test engineers from the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory to a seminar, and this time we invited FAA-DERs, which was very helpful in developing aircraft technology.
Participants also agreed to continue to maintain networks related to international cooperation between Korea and the United States.
