In response to Japan's export regulations, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups selected 55 companies to be supported for the '100 Small Giants Project', which increases technological independence in the fields of materials/parts/equipment.
Companies selected as one of the 100 small but strong companies will receive up to KRW 18.2 billion in support from technology development to commercialization over the next five years.
Looking at 55 small giants, by technology field, 16 electric/electronic (29.1%), 10 semiconductor (18.2%), 8 mechanical and metal (14.5%), 8 displays (14.5%), and 7 automobiles ( 12.7%), followed by 6 basic chemicals (10.9%).
In addition, 47.3% (26) of SMEs with sales of less than 30 billion won, and 80% (44) of the selected companies were recognized for their technological prowess and were recommended.
Among the 100 small giants, 45 vacancies will be filled through additional public offerings next year.
